“My whole life is dedicated to wine and its protagonists, and I have always traveled wherever there is a story to listen to. But if there is a region that I worry about visiting too little, it is Sardinia. I went to all the main Sardinian wineries, around seventy; and I walked all the most beautiful vineyards of the areas with the most proven vocation. However, I miss the everyday life of places and people (which I adore), I miss the possibility of smelling the scents of garrigue and mastic more frequently; to hear the howl of the Sulcis wind, to get lost in the isolated streets of Barbagie, to select the granites of Gallura, to look at the nocturnal stars of Romangia. Sardinia is a sort of geographical womb filled with embryos pregnant with beauty yet not yet known, little nuggets that must not come to light, otherwise goodbye silences. On the other hand, the artisan winemakers who produce delicious wines in Sardinia have every right to be discovered. And that's what we'll try to do on Sunday 18 November, on the occasion of my seminar at Back to the Wine, an event curated by Andrea Marchetti, whom I thank for his friendship and the opportunity. It starts at 15:00 and I hope to meet many of you. Thank you."
